The expulsion of a North Marion High School student for one school year stands after a hearing in Marion County Circuit Court Thursday.
The student was expelled after threatening another student while chatting on XBOX.
The student's mother, Kathleen Lawson, filed a petition for writ of mandamus, requesting that the court order the board of education to reinstate her child as a student at North Marion.
The BOE's attorney, Steve Brooks of Flaherty Sensabaugh Bonasso PLLC, said he filed a memorandum recommending that the court dismiss the writ of mandamus.
Brooks said Judge Michael Aloi decided in a Thursday hearing that he believes the school and board complied with the requirements to deal with the situation at North Marion and the case has been dismissed.
