First responders from across the state can receive a boost in the training and management-level skills they need to develop sufficient strategies through a workshop offered by the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium.

The workshop, which is certified by the Department of Homeland Security, is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Judge Black Annex, 315 Market St. in Parkersburg. According to a news release, the workshop will help first responders learn more about resource management and provide information to help rural areas plan for emergencies.

The course, MGT 399, is designed as a planning and management course for practitioners in the emergency services sector, public health, local and state government, emergency management and other first responders. The training introduces basic principles associated with resource inventory management for small communities and rural areas.

Registration is required by Feb. 7. To register, contact Christian Fernley at 304-558-6221 or email gregory.c.fernley@wv.gov.
