Marion County Commission Increasing Security at Courthouse

Posted: Updated:

The Marion County Commission has been working to increase security of the courthouse for years and now those plans are becoming a reality.

As of January 1, eight of the 11 courthouse doors have been locked.

The only ways residents can access the courthouse will be through the first floor of the J. Harper Building, the second floor magistrate entrance, and the bus stop side of the Courthouse.

Workers have installed additional cameras and panic buttons, and the commission is working to add a security glass to the assessor's office.
