Several Preston County fire departments responded to the scene of a house fire on Raccoon Valley Road in Tunnelton.

The fire started just before 11 a.m. Monday, according to Preston County 911. The homeowner told firefighters that he was building a fire in a wood stove when he added fuel to the fire and it ignited. The man said he had to dive out of a window to escape the fire.

He sustained minor burns to his hands and arms.

Officials said the house was a total loss.

The Newburg, Fellowsville, Kingwood and Tunnelton Fire Departments responded to the scene. Mountaineer Ambulance also responded to the scene.
