A recent extension of federal unemployment benefits has led Workforce West Virginia to encourage claimants to use its free job services to find employment.
The government has extended federally funded Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits by one year for people currently collecting federal jobless benefits.
The Workforce West Virginia in Fairmont offers classes to help people get their GEDs and a free broadband computer lab.
"We have a resource area that is available to the public any hours that we're open," said Workforce manager Mary Spellman. "Individuals who are looking for work or just in need of Internet access and come in and use those."
