Barbour County Sheriff's Office Investigating Fatal Route 250 Accident

The Barbour County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal accident that happened Wednesday.

The accident occurred at the intersection of 4-H Road and Route 250 at approximately 8:07 a.m.

According to deputies, a Hyundai approached the intersection but failed to stop before continuing out into the intersection at the same time a log truck was headed northbound on Route 250.

The logging truck and Hyundai then collided, with both ending up in the guard rail along the southbound lane of Route 250, deputies said.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Shekinah Anderson, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies said the driver of the logging truck did not sustain any injuries.

Route 250 was closed following the accident but has since reopened.

Members of the Barbour County Sheriff's Office, Philippi Police, W.Va. Department of Transportation, Philippi Volunteer Fire Department, Junior Fire Department, and Barbour County Emergency Squad all responded to the accident.
