The flu season is well under way and a little earlier than usual.

But local health departments are ready to try and keep you healthy.

The Barbour County Health Department is offering flu shots to the public throughout the week.

Nurses said they started getting busy earlier than usual this season and the department said it will provide the shot to anyone who needs it as the season continues.

"If somebody can't pay, we're giving them their flu vaccine regardless," said Rochelle Sutton, of the Barbour County Health Department. "That was provided for us by the state of West Virginia and so we were able to do that this year."

Call the Barbour County Health Department at 304-457-1670 for more information.
