MORGANTOWN -

The Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series annual awards banquet is this weekend.

The top ten GNCC ATV racers were honored Friday night at the Waterfront Place Hotel.

One of those being honored was Catlyn Bennett from Harmon. Bennett is ranked number one in the nation in her age group, which is 8-15 year olds.

"Yeah it's pretty exciting to know that you're first in the nation out of all of the people racing. Pretty fun," said Bennett.

"We call this our 14th race of the year," said Jennifer Kenyon of GNCC Racing. "The preparation and planning that goes into all of this is just as much, if not more, to actually put on an event. So I think it's really cool to reward the racers and their families for all their work that they put in. And we're really proud of all of them."

More than 600 ATV racers were in attendance Friday night. The awards will continue on Saturday when the GNCC bikers will be honored.
