MORGANTOWN -

Morgantown Police arrested a man late Saturday night on drug and conspiracy charges.

Officer Murphy of the Morgantown Police Department was doing a regular traffic stop Saturday. When he approached the vehicle he smelled marijuana in the car and asked one of the passengers to exit.

Jonathan Robinson, 19, exited the car, grabbed his backpack and ran into the Monongahela River.

He didn't last too long in the river and when he got out he was arrested for possession with intent to deliver.

Officer Murphy found marijuana in Robinson's backpack.  The backpack was found near the river.

Robinson is being held at North Central Regional Jail. Bail is set at $15,000.
