With pools finally opening up and temperatures usually rising, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer. But you wouldn't have known judging by how empty local pools were Saturday, when temperatures lingered in the 60s.
BRIDGEPORT -
The Little League Season is quickly approaching and registration was held Sunday at Bridgeport High School for Bridgeport Little League.
More than 100 kids ages 4 to 12 signed up for the season that starts in April.
League President Jeff Mossburg said the turnout was better than expected.
"We've had actually a really good turnout today. A lot of times we do signup's in two weekends, we'll do it again next weekend, and historically our first weekend has been lighter. We seemed to have a lot of people here today. Probably we'll do 100 to 120 kids across the four divisions and I would expect another 120 to 150 next week" said Mossburg.
Signups will be held again next Sunday, January 20th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bridgeport High School.
