Consol Energy said it will invest about twice as much to develop its natural gas properties this year as it will spend on coal.

Consol also said it doesn't foresee any investments in major new coal growth projects other than its planned BMX mine.

The company's projected capital investment for gas operations is expected to be between $835 million and $935 million with coal investments projected between $410 million and $520 million.
