A boy accused of murder will face charges as an adult, following a hearing in Randolph County Circuit Court.
Thomas Chevy Vas is accused of fatally stabbing Dustin White, 17, before a Tygarts Valley High School football game in Oct. 2012.
The case was transferred from the juvenile docket of the court to the adult criminal docket after Randolph County Circuit Judge Jaymie Wilfong granted the motion on Monday, according to a news release from the Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
Following the transfer to the adult criminal docket, the case will be presented to the grand jury before it can proceed.
"After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of this case and upon consultation with the investigating officer and the victim's family, the state determined that this is a case that should be handled on the court's adult criminal docket. As such, the state proceeded with the motion to transfer the case to adult jurisdiction," said Prosecuting Attorney Michael Parker.
