January 14 marked one month since the fatal shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.

Some West Virginia University students showed their support for the victims Monday evening by holding a candlelight vigil outside the Mountainlair.

Members of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and more than a dozen other students gathered in support of an Bethany alumnus who lost his daughter.

Christian Fuentes, who is the president of WVU's chapter, said the vigil was a big deal for the fraternity.

"It really hit home because Caroline Previdi is a daughter of Jeff Previdi. He's an alumnus of Beta Theta Pi at Bethany, Bethany '94, the Psi Chapter. It hit home for a lot of us here at West Virginia University to hear that an alumnus and brother actually suffered the loss of his daughter," said Fuentes.

Fuentes also said it was important for WVU students to remember the Sandy Hook victims and their families.
