West Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched up two-tenths of a percentage point, according to WorkForce West Virginia numbers released Jan. 15.
The December rate was 7.5 percent, with the total number of unemployed West Virginians climbing by 1,100 people to a total of 59,700.
Total unemployment in the state is down 2,600 people for the year, and the national unemployment rate remains the same 7.8 percent, according to WorkForce West Virginia.
There was a decline of 100 employments in the service-providing sector, but within the goods-producing sector, 700 employments in manufacturing and 400 employments in construction were gained.
There was a drop of 100 in the mining and logging sector, but gains of 400 in government, 400 in educational and health services and also 100 in other services.
