The old United Hospital Center in Clarksburg has been vacant for some time now but plans are on the way to open it back up.

Highland Hospital has announced plans to open a new Behavioral Health Center in the old UHC building.

The 150-bed facility will provide services for children, teens and adults.

"We treat folks for psychiatric issues, behavioral issues, behavioral health issues and problems families are having. We're delighted to be in north central West Virginia, We've been providing understanding, support and treatment since 1955," said Jim Strawn-Highland Hospital Director of Marketing.

Highland said it expects to open the new facility in about a year.
