It's not quite like in the movies but the "bat mobile" is saving lives.
The State Police's "Breath Alcohol Testing" unit is a mobile breathalyzer fully equipped to process DUIs.
The Monongalia Sheriff's Department hosted members of "Leadership Monongalia" Thursday who got up close with the BAT Mobile.
Police use it to set up DUI checkpoints and said it's important the community and leaders understand how law enforcement is fighting against drunk driving.
"It lets them see what law enforcement has available to them. It lets them know that law enforcement officers are out there 24/7, 365 days a year combating DUI," said Sgt. Chad Tierney, of the West Virginia State Police.
The truck is provided by the State's Commission on drunk driving which also provides funds for checkpoints and patrols as well.
