Clarksburg City Council appointed a new member Thursday evening.
Bob Caplan will fill the vacancy reacted by the resignation of Jim Hunt.
Caplan said he's been involved with the city of Clarksburg for 40 years. He also said the city is moving forward in a good direction, and he plans to be part of it.
"[I'm] extremely excited. I'm glad the council thought of me in a positive direction. I really think I'll do a lot for the City of Clarksburg and its something that I really think I will do very well," Caplan said.
Voters will elect three council members in June. The filing period is March 1 through March 15.
