Fairmont General Hospital has created a new and improved service to meet the needs and schedules of its patients.

"Multiphasic on Demand" allows a patient to request a limited number of lab tests without a physician's order.

Previously, the program was set up to be once every other Saturday and hundreds of patients would fill the waiting room.

But on January 2, "Multiphasic on Demand" began to provide the laboratory tests six days a week.

"Its patient convenience. They don't have to wait until a Saturday to come for that service, they don't have to stand in a long line. They can sort of come at their own convenience and get their lab tests done," said Robert Marquardt, of Fairmont General Hospital.

Fairmont General Hospital believes the new program will better accommodate the community's needs.

Lab tests are available Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.
