West Virginia University held its annual "Unity Breakfast" Monday morning.
The event brings the community together each year in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.
During the breakfast, scholarships are awarded to students.
This year was the 24th year for the breakfast.
The Center for Black Culture and Research at WVU said they're honored to sponsor such an important celebration.
"Dr. King's legacy extends well beyond race, or creed, or culture. This is an opportunity for us to see what the world can be, and we are always very happy that we can be the sponsors of this event," said Marjorie Fuller, of the Center for Black Culture and Research.
Monday night, the Center also hosted an inauguration ball in the Mountainlair Ball Room.
The event featured live music and entertainment. It began at 7 p.m., and was free and open to the public.
