The Marion County Sheriff's Department has arrested a man after a family altercation led to the shooting of two dogs.

Alicia Greathouse said she and her husband got into an argument with her brother Charles Jones Sunday night.

Greathouse said Jones stormed into her home with a 22-caliber rifle and shot her puppy in the head three times in front of the family.

Jones then exited the home and shot an older dog that was chained up outside.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Jones at his house and charged him with two felony counts of animal cruelty and seven counts of wanton endangerment.

He's in the North Central Regional Jail with bail set at $100,000.

A vet put the older dog to sleep.

The puppy is in critical condition. West Virginia Pets and Maddie's Angels are collecting donations to pay for its surgery.
