CLARKSBURG -

The United Methodist Temple in Clarksburg held a special church service Monday in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

The service included prayers, singing, and a special sermon from Reverend James Harris of the Allen Chapel AME Church.

The Greater Clarksburg Cooperative Parish organized the service and has honored King's legacy with the service for the past few years.

"We have done this several years in a row now. We just invite the community so we can worship together and remember Dr. King and his message. We just try to have a service of unity," said Marybeth Chien, deacon associate of the Duff Street United Methodist Church.

The Greater Clarksburg Cooperative Parish is a group of 21 United Methodist churches in both Clarksburg and Bridgeport.
