ArtsLink will offer a free presentation of "Through the Eye of the Needle, the Art of Esther Nisenthal Krinitz" at 6:30 p.m. May 13 at the Francis Creative Arts Center, located at the corner of Maple Avenue and Washington Street in New Martinsville. Light refreshments will be served.
The Underground Railroad and its connection to the Upper Ohio Valley will be discussed during a special Lunch and Learn
presentation starting at 11 a.m. Jan. 24 at the Wheeling campus of West Virginia Northern Community College.
The presenter will be John Mattox, curator
of the Underground Railroad Museum in Flushing. The free and open to the public Lunch and Learn
event will be held in the B&O Building auditorium on the downtown Wheeling
campus, 1704 Market St.
Mattox says the Underground Railroad Museum
features an extensive collection of publications, books, memorabilia and other
articles. The exhibits portray what is known about slavery and the Underground
Railroad in Ohio and features an understanding of the culture in
the 1800s.
Lunch will be served beginning at 11 a.m. Mattox will speak at 11:30
a.m. The
event is part of WVNCC's commemoration of the birthday of Martin Luther King
Jr. Members of the public wishing to attend are asked to provide an RSVP by
Jan. 23 to Ida Williams, WVNCC Student Activities program coordinator, by
