Lewis County sheriff's deputies may have some new rides this year.
The county commission has approved a request for two new cruisers from Sheriff Adam Gissy.
The new vehicles will replace ones in service now.
Some of them have almost 200,000 miles on them and are ready to be replaced.
"These vehicles are used 24/7, it's not like an average vehicle that makes eighteen to twenty thousand miles a year," said Pat Boyle, of the Lewis County Commission. "With these guys doing what they're paid to do, they're out there on the road between thirty to forty thousand miles a year."
Boyle said it will be a while before the new cruisers hit the road but that he hopes to have them by the end of the year.
