FAIRMONT -
The Marion County Board of Education met Tuesday evening to discuss a Reduction in Force (RIF).
The board met with one woman who teaches 7th and 8th graders. After discussing the issue, it decided to let her go.
The board also decided to cut another teacher's job in half.
Marion County Superintendent Gary Price explained the reason for RIFs.
"Counties have to look at the number of personnel they have employed and they make decisions as to whether or not they can continue at that same level of personnel, or if they have to reduce some of those," said Price.
Price said one key factor in decided who gets reduced is seniority.
More RIF meetings are planned in the coming months.
