Upshur County BOE Discusses New Social Media Policy

Posted: Updated:

The Upshur County Board of Education soon could have a new social media policy.

The board said it's taking a proactive stance to protect students and staff in the world of social media.

Assistant Superintendent David Dilly said Tuesday's meeting was the first of three public readings of the proposed policy.

"We've been looking at this issue for a while. Not anything in particular but just trying to get out good practices for staff and our students," said Dilly.

Dilly also said the comment periods between the readings will allow for improvements to be made. The second reading will be at the board's next meeting on February 12.
