
State police have arrested a Marion County woman on charges of child abuse resulting in injury.
Sgt. Adam Scott, of the W.Va. State Police Crimes Against Children Unit, said Victoria Carpenter, 54, has admitted to leaving deep scratches on a five-year-old girl while attempting to discipline her.
Sgt. Scott said the child stepped on Carpenter's foot. Carpenter then chased the child, and scratched her on the chest while trying to stop her.
Carpenter also spanked the child several times.
