UPDATE: Wallace Residence Ruled A Total Loss After Fire

On Friday, the State Fire Marshal's Office ruled a residence in Wallace a total loss after fire destroyed it Thursday.

Assistant State Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman said the structure on Rinehart Road burnt to the ground.

At this point, Ayersman said he is unable to locate the three or more individuals from Ohio who reportedly stay at the home periodically.

However, witnesses said the individuals came to the house around 6 a.m. and reported a fire in the back of the house, according to Ayersman.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office said they will be investigating the fire on Friday.

The Wallace Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire in Harrison County Thursday morning.

The fire broke out shortly before 6 a.m. on Rinehart Road.

The fire department said it's not sure if the residence was occupied or if the electricity was hooked up.

According to a neighbor, the house was occupied and the residents occupy the house once or twice a month. The neighbor also stated that he saw a car at the house Wednesday night and that is was covered with snow Thursday morning.

There were no injuries reported but the fire department said the house is a complete loss.

Nutter Fort, Folson, and Lumberport Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
