BUCKHANNON -
The Upshur County Commission has approved a request from the city of Buckhannon for a minor boundary adjustment annexation.
The adjustment will allow the city to utility and services such as police and fire protection, and water and sewage service to the new National Guard armory and conference center.
The city said it's more economical.
"The major portion as far as infrastructure is concerned is the 12 inch waterline extension that will be out there, which will certainly accommodate the proposed national guard armory and conference center, but offer future economic development opportunities in the way for commercial, industrial and residential development out in the Brushy Fork area," said Michael Doss, of the city of Buckhannon.
State law requires a city to secure the approval of the county commission for minor boundary adjustments.
