Update:

The West Virginia State Police is releasing more details about a standoff near Adrian in Upshur County Thursday night.

The initial call from 911 had authorities respond to a report of a gunshot wound after a hunting accident, but that report was unfounded.

Authorities responded to a burglary call.  That's when they learned that Edward Williams, 28, had allegedly forced his way into a family residence on Booney Hull Road, took items, and later was reportedly armed with a weapon, officials said.

State Police said Williams went to a second home and demanded keys to a vehicle. Police said he took the vehicle, and placed his two small children, a two-month-old and eight-month-old, inside.

After several hours, the stand off ended peacefully at about 1:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Williams faces two counts of child endangerment, one count of grand larceny of a vehicle, one count of nighttime burglary, one count of destruction of property and on count of breaking and entering. More charges are pending.

Williams is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bail set at $500,000. ($300,000 cash and $250,000 surety)
