Preliminary Hearing Date Set for Elkins Man Charged With Kidnapp - WBOY.com: Clarksburg, Morgantown: News, Sports, Weather

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for an Elkins man charged with kidnapping, and more charges could be pending.

Sheriff's deputies said James Cornett, 19, approached two girls and offered to pay them to come back to a woman's apartment and pretend to be her children.

The woman was trying to get extra money from a man under false pretenses by claiming she had children, when she didn't.

One of the girls was drugged and later became dizzy.

That hearing is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

Cornett is in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bail set at $50,000.
