Pierpont Community and Technical College celebrated its namesake's birthday Friday with a big announcement.
The school revealed its mascot at their Pierpont Pride Day Celebration.
The top three choices included a panther, pirate, or a lion.
People voted online, and the school will now be represented by Montgomery, the lion.
President Doreen Larson is excited about the new addition.
"We chose the lion for Pierpont pride because our alma mater is Pierpont pride. And, we're proud of what we do for our community, and proud of our students, and we thought the lion just symbolized all of the strength and family and ability to be strong, and yet beautiful," Larson said.
The school will soon start searching for a student to wear the mascot costume.
