MORGANTOWN -
The Morgantown Friends of Old Time Music held a dance Saturday where anyone could try out square dancing.
It holds a dance once a month in the spring where people of any age and skill level can learn to square and contra dance.
Cindy O'Brien, one of the members of the group, said at one dance they had an age range of 70 years between the oldest and youngest person there.
At Saturday's dance there was a range of people who had never square danced before, and some who were very experienced.
O'Brien said that these dances are a good social event.
"You don't have to come with a date, and you don't have to dance with the same person all night. You can find someone who can dance better than you, and that helps you out. So it's a multi skill social event," said O'Brien.
The next dance will be held on February 23rd at the Worley Gardner Winter Festival at South Middle School in Morgantown.
