Newly-named state senator Sam Cann visited the Lewis County Commission Monday.

Cann has filled the vacancy created by former Senator Joe Minard who resigned to become clerk of the Senate.

Cann said he looks forward to the challenges of representing a wider area.

"I want to get the lay of the land and who's who, and what their needs are, and I have to get to know them as well as I know the folks in Harrison County, and I'm looking really forward to it," Cann said.

Cann will join Senator Doug Facemire in the next legislative session.
