Three businesses were cited following two alcohol compliance checks conducted by the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office on January 17 and January 24, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.

Twelve businesses were checked by the sheriff's department on January 17. Out of those 12 businesses, two sold to the underage operative, according to the news release.

The 10 businesses that did not sell are:

  • BFS on South High Street
  • Super K-Mart on Mall Road
  • Exxon in Westover
  • BFS in Westover
  • Rite-Aid in Westover
  • Smoker Friendly in Westover
  • Circle-K in Westover
  • BFS on Don Knotts Boulevard
  • Walmart on Hornbeck Road
  • Go-Mart on Grafton Road

The businesses that did sell to the underage operative on January 17 were the Dairy Mart on Willey Street and the Circle-K on Dorsey Avenue, according to the news release.

Circle-K employee Miranda J. Graham, 23 of Morgantown, and Dairy Mart employee Jeremy M. Lyons, 21 of Morgantown, were both cited for selling to an underage person, according to the sheriff's department.

On January 24, a second check was conducted at 11 businesses. Of those 11 businesses, one sold to the underage operative, according to the news release.

The 10 businesses that did not sell are:

  • All-U-Need
  • Walmart on Hornbeck Road
  • Circle-K in Grafton
  • Bell's on Grafton Road
  • Pilot Gas Station on Smithtown Road
  • Circle-K on Earl Core Road
  • Sunoco at the East Gate Plaza
  • Sheetz on Earl Core Road
  • BFS on Earl Core Road
  • Smoker Friendly on Earl Core Road

The business that did sell to the underage operative on January 24 was the CVS on Earl Core Road, according to the news release.

CVS employee Alex P. Harrison, 20 of Morgantown, was cited for selling to the underage person.

The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office said it will continue to conduct alcohol compliance checks throughout Monongalia County.
