A local mayor wants to see that area families stay well fed this season.

Glenville Mayor Tashua Allman-Duval has kicked off the city's second annual "Feed the Dream" food drive.

The drive honors Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. and kicked off on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Food donations will go to Community Resources in Glenville.

Those donations can go a long way to making a difference for local families.

"We have people in the community who are on other forms of assistance but sometimes it's not enough, so with the CRI, they're able to really fill in and help people with other things as well," Allman-Duval said.

Organizers are collecting toiletries and other items as well as non-perishable food.

Allman-Duval said they hope to collect 3,500 items before the drive ends in mid-March.
