The Morgantown Police Department Detective Division is investigating a malicious assault that happened in the early morning hours on January 27.
A West Virginia University Engineering student was assaulted on High Street in front of a hot dog vending stand, according to police. An unidentified man threw a glass beer bottle directly at Christian Chirico's eye. Chirico was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for excessive bleeding and is being treated for eye injuries.
Morgantown Police Department Detectives have been conducting interviews related to the incident, according to Chief Ed Preston.
