SALEM -

Salem International University baseball players volunteered at Salem Elementary School Wednesday.

Four players went to the school to help the kids with their homework.

The whole team volunteered and will work with the kids for the rest of the year.

"It took the kids a little bit to warm up, and it was awkward a little bit. But after about five minutes, they're talking, laughing, and it was good. We're cycling through in groups of four, so each week a new four will go," said baseball player Jared Ward.

The players volunteered through the Literacy Volunteers of Harrison County.
