With the flu going around, hand washing is even more important.

Staff members at United Hospital Center visited some first graders at Johnson Elementary School Thursday.

The students learned how to wash their hands and prevent the spread of germs.

They also got to see how many germs they missed with their last hand wash.

"Anytime you can make something real to them and they can actually participate in it then it's better than just reading about it or hearing about it," said Kim McCord, of Johnson Elementary School.

Doctors suggest that you should wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
