The Harrison County Sheriff's Department is investigating a three vehicle accident that sent one man to the hospital Friday evening.

It happened around 5:20 p.m. near Lost Creek at the 113 mile marker of Interstate 79.

The sheriff's department said a vehicle stopped suddenly as it was traveling north, which caused two vehicles behind it to crash. One of those vehicles was a van, which rolled over the median and into the southbound lane.

Emergency crews had to extricate a man from the van. Harrison County EMS transported him to United Hospital Center. His name and condition are not being released at this time.

Anmoore EMS and fire departments from Lost Creek, Stonewood, Nutter Fort, and Jane Lew also responded to the accident.

Officials from the Division of Highways initially closed both lanes of I-79 South, but one lane has since reopened.
