A proposed levy that caused some commotion in the past could be back on the ballot in Doddridge County.

Fire and Rescue Committee President Pat Heaster has approached County Commission to ask for its support in revisiting the fire and rescue levy.

Heaster said the county's fire departments are hurting financially and this would help cover insurance and vehicle costs.

"This is going to be a long process ‘cause we're going to have to start all over again, we're going to have to rewrite the levy, get the attorneys involved, the secretary of state's office, the auditor's office," Heaster said.

Heaster said the levy would provide funding for five fire departments and the emergency squad.

He said it accounted for nearly 30 percent of their annual budgets in the past.
