With pools finally opening up and temperatures usually rising, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer. But you wouldn't have known judging by how empty local pools were Saturday, when temperatures lingered in the 60s.
Weston City Council is considering a new ordinance that would affect rental properties in the city.
It wants the city to inspect rental properties to make sure they're safe for people to live in.
The proposed ordinance would require the city to inspect rental properties every other year.
Councilman Terry Cogar said council would like to see the more dilapidated buildings torn down which can get expensive.
"Unless you get some kind of grant, which don't seem to be out there right now, it's almost impossible top do, so if we can prevent the houses from getting this way, I think it's a step ahead," Cogar said.
Cogar said the measure would be similar to those in nearby cities like Clarksburg and Morgantown.
