Everyone gets a lead foot every so often. But a study showing that West Virginia has more fatalities from car wrecks than other areas in the United States may have drivers on Interstate 79 hitting the brakes.
Teachers and lawmakers held a roundtable in Fairmont Tuesday evening to discuss the Governor's Education Efficiency Audit.
The purpose of the audit is to improve the quality of education, while saving money. The American Federation of Teachers said school systems need to spend more money on instruction, and less on administration.
"One thing that we're going to address with our legislators this evening is top heaviness. Not just in Monongalia County but top heaviness in a lot of other counties in our state," Sam Burnett said.
Burnett also said he hopes Tuesday evening's discussion will help lawmakers understand that counties are better able than the state to understand what their students need.
