Talk about a new 911 center in Harrison County has been ongoing for years.

The most recent obstacle, a possible change in location after it was discovered that mining activity once took place underneath P.K. Addition in Clarksburg.

Harrison County Commissioner Ron Watson said a subsurface study conducted by Triad Engineering revealed that mining activity underneath the proposed site was not as extensive as originally thought.

"Everything was favorable. There is some recommendations on how the foundations should be. The report was given to us and the commissioners felt that it needed to be tabled to digest the information that was provided to us," Watson said.

The new building is anticipated to cost roughly $6 million.

The current building plan calls for an 18,000-19,000 square foot facility.

Contractors hope the project will go to bid in April so construction can start soon after.
