The Supreme Court of Appeals has appointed a temporary successor to Judge Thomas Keadle while the search for his successor is underway.
Judge Keadle retired at the beginning of January.
Senior Judge John Henning will take his place for the time being.
Henning is a retired judge from Randolph County.
He'll preside over cases in Lewis and Upshur Counties.
"My goal is to come in and fill in for Judge Keadle and do as good a job as I can and with fairness and equality render justice and to simply do that until the governor selects someone to take over that position permanently," Henning said.
Judge Henning said he expects Governor Earl Ray Tomblin to name a replacement sometime this spring.
