The Gilmer County Historical Society is under new leadership.

Its new president is Professor Art DeMatteo who teaches history at Glenville State College.

DeMatteo will work with the society to restore Holt House, an early 1900s residence in Glenville.

He said there's a lot of history to preserve in Gilmer County that people may not know about.

"I don't think there's an appreciation for the really historic value of some of the things we have here in Gilmer County, it's place in history as a transportation hub, and some of the other historic sites we have here," said DeMatteo.

Call the Gilmer County Historical Society at (304) 462-4295 for more information.
