With pools finally opening up and temperatures usually rising, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer. But you wouldn't have known judging by how empty local pools were Saturday, when temperatures lingered in the 60s.
Scholarship applications for students in the North Central West Virginia region are available on the Your Community Foundation website. The application deadline is March 31.
Many of the scholarships on the website have been created by individuals to honor loved ones who have passed or created to help local students attend a college, university or trade school.
Anyone from the community can give to any of YCF's scholarship funds.
