Chocolate lovers had something to smile about in Fairmont on February 8.
It marked the town's eighth annual chocolate tasting tour.
About 20 businesses took part in the event, ranging from Adams Office Supply to the Telephone Museum.
Residents of Fairmont were excited to try free chocolate and said it was a great opportunity for businesses.
"It'll get people out and to places they've never been before and that will, you know, do good for business," said Jerri Cook.
"I think it's a really good idea to bring people in town," said Nancy Kerekes.
Businesses were also thrilled to be involved with the event.
216 Monroe Cafe only opens on Wednesday evenings for open mic night, but they opened especially for the event. Barista Amanda Hatfield said it was important for them to be involved with the chocolate tour.
"We wanted to open up today for the chocolate tour to show support for the community and for Main Street Fairmont. And, just to have a presence downtown in the city and to serve the city," Hatfield said.
Betty Andrews of the Marion County Historical Society said sweets definitely helped bring in more people.
"We like to ask our volunteers to make homemade cookies for us because it brings everybody in to see what is going on in the museum," Andrews said.
Julie Mike of the Marion County Public Library said the library felt the impact of the chocolate tour too.
"We have had people from two to 70 years old come in and a lot of them have applied for library cards, some people that haven't been through the library," Mike said.
Noteworthy Sweets was another stop on the tour not to miss. They served chocolate covered peanuts and definitely saw more customers than usual.
At each location, people were able to enter a raffle for prizes.
