FAFSA Help Night was held Friday at Webster County High School.
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid
It is required for anyone going to a two-year or four-year college or trade/technical school to be eligible for federal and state student aid.
Parents and students are able to get one-on-one help filling out and filing their FAFSA.
Organizers said it's even more important to provide this one-on-one help to rural schools
"It's so important to come out to the rural parts of the areas to help the families that don't have access to other agencies or organizations to help them with the questions that they have, the unusual family circumstances that so many of them are in makes this form really difficult to fill out and really scary to fill out because they're afraid they may get it wrong or something bad might happen to them," said Karen Lay, of Greenville State College.
The application deadline for Priority FAFSA and the Promise Scholarship is March 1.
Friday's event was sponsored by GearUp and Glenville State College.
