The Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire on Barbecue Run Road outside of Letter Gap Monday morning.

A Rubin Resources employee said an oil tank and gas tank underground caught on fire after well oil got onto a pump.

The fire department said workers shut off the lines that led into the tank so the department could put out the fire.

According to the fire department, the flames at a certain point were approximately 100 feet in the air when it hit pockets of gas. The fire was contained to where the storage tanks are located and in the pit area of the well site.

Crews were able to get the fire under control just over an hour after the fire started.

A small brush fire also occurred outside the well pad but due to rain, crews are not concerned about any other brush fires occurring.

No injuries were reported.

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection was also at the scene Monday morning.

12 News is also awaiting a call back from Rubin Resources.
