The Monongalia County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal two-vehicle accident Tuesday.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:05 a.m. near the Circle K convenience store on Grafton Road in Monongalia County.
A 2002 Saturn, driven by Brad Bolyard, 20 of Grafton, was traveling south on Grafton Road when it crossed the center line, colliding with a 2005 Ford Explorer that was traveling north, according to the sheriff's department.
Bolyard, the sole occupant of the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff's department.
The driver and passenger of the Ford Explorer were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital and Monongalia General Hospital for treatment. Their injuries appeared to be non-life threatening, according to the sheriff's department.
Further investigation into the accident revealed that Bolyard had left work in the Morgantown area around 7:30 a.m. Witnesses told the sheriff's department that it appeared that Bolyard's vehicle suddenly drifted across the center line and into the Ford Explorer's path.
Bolyard did not appear to take braking or steering action to avoid the collision, according to the sheriff's department.
Monongalia County EMS and the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
